Mexico has sent fire trucks to San Diego to help, any comments?

Dar; Just wondering is all, don’t get upset.

Thanks Mexico. They also sent some aid in the Katrina aftermath.

I’m grateful and thankful to both.

But it’s not like they are saving our @ss here or anything. They are doing the right and appropriate thing.

I’m grateful, but that doesn’t alter an imbalanced relationship–not by a long shot.

How weird is this. Not ten minutes after I ask a question about fire safety, the fire alarm goes off?

In my apartment building.

I’m starting to wonder if I should ask or not about my girlfriend’s hot sister having a thing for me…

Spooky…

Experts….Can a job fire you for not passing training with 80% although they never told you at the interview?

Posted by admin on September 30th, 2009 and filed under fire training | 2 Comments »

The reason why I ask is because I work for this agency (confidentially), and they are involve in credit (hint hint), they had a training class full of 8 and now this is our last week, and if you dont meet their standards they feel they can fire you on the spot. I am one of two left now and they say if by tomorrow my accuracy is not up, then they cant use me…..what are my rights, what can I do, because when we origionally got hired, we did not know we would work in that specific arena nor did we know we could get fired for not passing a 8 day training with a 80%….they use to give people a month to catch on. I pressume they are fire happy.

Yes they can fire you. But, if they do b/c you don’t pass training, then you can file for unemployment. By law, its not your fault that you can’t get passed the training seminar. But, you will have to make sure your ego doesnt get in the way, accept the termination, and look for another job.

What is the relationship between 911 and Saddam?

Posted by admin on September 30th, 2009 and filed under fire apparatus | 16 Comments »

I think Hillery Clinton summarized Saddam’s relationship with 9/11 best ..
In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002
As a sanctuary and an aid to al qaeda the threat of WMD including nuclear possibilities made him an important target for the well being of the US and the world. Afghanistan alone is not a threat , it did not have the capabilities of Iraq which is why both areas became targets..

Emergency, Fire & Rescue? US NAVY

Posted by admin on September 30th, 2009 and filed under fire rescue | 3 Comments »

Hi everyone,
i want to be a firefighter later on in life.
but i was considering joining the navy seeing as how they offer Emergency, Fire and rescue.

i was trying to do some research but i couldn’t find anyone who has done it first hand, or knows people that did it.

so if anyone is in the navy, or specifically did this job, please let me know what it is exactly that you do, and did you like it?

thank you!

The US Navy has the job for you…. DC (Damage Controlman). These guys are highly trained to fight all kinds of fires.

(from a web site)…as a DC you are responsible for inspecting, maintainence, and repair of firefighting, flooding equipment and fire suppression systems. You will learn fire suppression systems like AFFF, HALON (or equivelant now), CO2 flooding, restaurant hood systems and so on. You will also be responsible for maintain firefighting and damage control equipment in the repair lockers, (each ship is different for the number of lockers) you also take care of SCBA’s or even old style OBA’s, chem warfare equipment and so forth.

You will be assigned a position on a fire party and will work your way up to a more leadership position on the party. You will find yourself doing a lot of teaching and instructing of firefighting techniques and training others on equipment. Even though DC is a fire suppression type of rate, you primary job is to ensure the rest of the crew is trained to handle a fire or flooding emergency and you will find yourself doing more incident management than firefighting.

Had a house fire, hired a restoration company to clean and repair fire, smoke and water damage. Who is supposed to the the buliding permits?

The permits are the responsibility of the contractor. They have to be licensed to do the work and they are responsible for furnishing the details of the work as well as doing the work to code. Period

Good name for fire station dog?

Posted by admin on September 30th, 2009 and filed under fire station | 32 Comments »

What’s a good name for fire station dog? We just got a dog that is named "Sparky," but none of us really like the name. I thought maybe I could throw out some ideas. Ranger/Smoky = no can do. Our Ranger died in January, and they had a Smoky a long time ago.
Yes, it’s a dalmatian. We DON’T like Sparky….and Spot? That’s stating the obvious. We need a good, strong name.

Ember? Hoser? Chief? Ashes? Cinder? Tanker? Blaze? Ummm… I’m trying to come up with something that could be fire station related! Is this dog male? Female? Is he/she a Dalmatian?

Here’s a link that will take you to a list of dog names if you need some more ideas! Hope this helps! :o) Take care!

If a developer has promissed a city police salaries and fire stations isn’t that considered bribery?

Posted by admin on September 30th, 2009 and filed under fire stations | 5 Comments »

A local developer is trying to get 1000 farm acres annexed into the city and has said he will pay three new policeman’s salaries along with others peoples wages. He has also said he will pay all legal fees and buy new equipment for the city. To me this fits the definition of bribery, what do you think and how can it be stopped?

It is more likely unethical than illegal. He is presenting a proposal to develop an area and including perks to sway the vote. It is done all the time.
