Even if your reasons are simple you can still get very specific and fill out a lot of room. For example if one of your reasons is to help people, maybe tell a story about how you helped someone or how someone helped you, it can even be somebody else's story: My girlfriend had a small fire in the kitchen, blah, blah, the firefighters did this and that, my girlfriend was so thankful, I want to be one of those guys.
You can tell a specific story of how you first got interested in the fire service. Do you remember the sirens when you were young? Did you have a family member that preceded you in the fire department?
I am telling you that you have a lot to say. Everyone does. If you tell your story and reasons, just go into it. It is real and it is interesting.
References :
The fire triangle is may be outdated, but it still has many practical uses. The tetrahedron is used more in fire technology classes and such, because it is a more advanced base for fire science.

I like talking about the fire triangle with children because it is easier for them to understand. Sometimes they do not understand what a tetrahedron is, or they can't wrap their mind around the "chemical chain reaction."

So in short, I would say they are both very useful, and it is never wrong to try an educate the public on fire safety!
References :
Firefighter and owner of www.SureFireCPR.com

Unless you are dealing with a fire extinguisher which blocks the free radicals that greatly speed up oxidation reactions, they are effectively equivalent.
References :
I think you may have a form of writer's block.
I think if you have a microphone, you should connect it to your computer and "talk" your paper.
Then play it back and type it.
When you print it out, double space it, and use a 12 point courier font
I think you'll find it's around two pages. If it's not, try to fill in more details.
For example if you say: I like working outdoors, and that's all you said about that point, then you could break it down to more detail, and say some of the things you already enjoy doing outdoors, and some of the things you wish you could do outdoors. it's easy to turn 4 words into 40 this way.
References :
Uh, I'd jump right in and you wouldn't have to ask me twice. Hypothetically speaking. I mean it doesn't sound probable.
References :
It depends on your department. Some departments have firefighters which are called PCFs which is paid call firefighters. They have certain days they work the station and per each call they run, they receive a set rate of pay. As for volunteer departments most do not pay you at all. My department where i volunteer will only pay the volunteers if we go on strike teams. Meaning when we go out of county on the big fires. The dept is getting paid by the state to have an engine there with 4 people on it so that's the only way us volunteers at my station get paid.
References :
firefighter 13 years

The amount of people they accept will depend on their need for more people. Do they go out with fully manned apparatus? In my area, if you can pass a basic medical you'll be accepted. Then it's up to you to get your ff certification so you can actually fight fire.
When I volunteered we were given $5 per call and residents of the city were given a property tax break.
It is a great way to make friends, get involved in your community and learn some cool stuff.
Have fun.
