Hearing The Student Perspective
People have a desire somewhere within them that says, “I would like to have some influence on what happens to me” and this approach acknowledges that. In addition, it provides an excellent opportunity for the school administration to hear ideas presented from the student perspective. This approach does require on the part of the school administration, a belief that the students enrolled in the school are trustworthy enough and of such character that they would take responsibility for identifying problems or potential problems, making rules and enforcing them. By implementing a just community, teachers and administrators have the opportunity to get students more committed to the advancement of not only themselves but also the school as a whole
