   That is true but …
   That is true but are you going to risk having to wash your gear at the station after every bloody call you go on? Then get a fire and have to put wet gear on which will steam you to death. Trauma calls can get very nastyand me personally I’d rather wear trauma sleeves and not gunk up my turnout gear or touch another pt will my gear that got blood on it from a previos call. But I do understand what your saying.

   Actually the turnout gear qualifies as PPE. It repells water and doesn’t soak it in so in instances where something like a gown is needed turnout gear works for that.

   I agree with …
   I agree with LAcofireguy on that comment. The only other thing the could use for ppe are trauma sleeves but that’s about it. If there wasn’t any fire hazards then there’s no reason for turnout gear unless you were worried about getting your station boot dirty.
