In the afternoon hours of Sunday August 9,2009 Catty station 2 was hit for the house fire at the corner of 14th and Race sts. Command arrived onscene and quickly struck a second alarm for the well involved first floor. NVP was on of the first camera crews onscene and captured the fire from before the initial attack was made until it was knocked down.

agreed 100% firemike, ive been a firefighter for 12 years and its not easy giving up family time and sleep time etc, when you get off your and do what we do lilly then maybe youll have a right to say something until then pipe down and shut up. to the guys fighting that fire good job, and stay safe!!

In response to the time that it took for the Fire Department to arrive, I have this. The department is all volunteer, therefore no one is usually staffing the station. The response times were within the National Standards and given the amount of fire that was all ready showing upon arrival, the appropriate tactics were taken. The only solution for faster response times is to go paid. Taxpayers in this town all ready are complaining about tax rates, so volunteer is the only option left.

They stood around …
They stood around doing nothing but watch it burn for the longest time. They are right down the street, maybe two blocks away. What the took them so long to get to that house? There are so many people who live right there. You’d think as soon as black smoke came out of the roof, they would call into the fire department. They did, but the firemen got there when te house was ENGULFED in flames. How long doesit take to get ready? The poor people who lived there lost everything. Dumbassism
