Do fire fighters work at different stations every few months?

Or do they get placed at a station and that’s that? How are they placed, by whatever station they live closest to?
I see this fire fighter at at my work all the time for monthsnow, now I havent seen him there for almost 2 weeks, yet his station still comes in, but hes not with them.

Sometimes they will get sent to another station to help out, or to fill in for a firefighter that is on leave or something. You might ask one of the other guys who works at his station, where he is.

  9. Being a fire fighter, some department move firefighters around so they can have experience on all trucks( engine, ladder, rescue). To stay at certain station becomes very repetitive. Experience and Training is crucial for firefighters, moving around is actually good. This person could have gotten another job or ect.
