what is the significance of the Dalmatian with fire stations?
Particulary in the United States, this use as a carriage dog was transferred to horse-drawn fire engines, although it is unclear why this link was not made in other countries. It is believed that Dalmatians may have been useful to fire brigades as guard dogs to protect a firehouse and its equipment, and as rescue dogs to locate victims in burning structures. As a result, in the U.S., Dalmatians are commonly known as firehouse dogs.

dalmtions are assosited with fire stations from the time when the truck were horse drawn…. the were small enough to run under the wagon… fast enough to keep up… and are stupid.. i mean brave enough to go into a burning building to help find survivors… they also develope close relationships with their masters… so the men in the fire house would have a pet to play with during down time

Dalmatians used to run along with carriages pulled by horses to protect them from road thiefs…They got along with horses pretty well and they ran great distances in order to clear a way for horses to follow when firemen passed by back in London on the XIX Century and later in the USA
Then, with motorized vehicles this was no longer necessary, so they were used as working dogs to rescue people.
Since then, they have won an honor place as the official mascot for all the firemen around the world.
