Ohio allows real lightbars and sirens for volunteers and it works very well.

  2. im a fire fighter …
im a fire fighter and i would love it if people would pull over.

  3. Here in Delaware …
Here in Delaware volunteer fire fighters are not allowed nothing but what your vehicle came with,Highbeams and four-ways.And it sucks balls! Fire Police, and Chiefs are allowed blue lights that’s it.

  4. Not for our own …
Not for our own health but more times others own health. atleast were im from any how.

  5. The vast majority …
The vast majority of folks are good people, but 20% of the MORONS out there are the ones who always end up in front of you when you’re running on a call. They’re rude, ignorant, and self-centered and don’t give a about emergency vehicles.

In the south (VA, NJ, SC) they are still “courtesy” lights, but volunteers use red lights. Blue is law enforcement only.

  6. Very very …
Very very fustrating as everyone is saying on here when you get behind someone and they wont let you pass. Remember it is a courtesy light only, they dont have to let us pass, no matter how ed we get, and we all know those will be the ones to complain when we dont get to a scene fast enough for them. In my town, 99.9% of the people do allow us to pass cause were all so close to each other, but you always have that one hole that stays in our way……regardless stay safe brothers

  7. The same people …
The same people that dont yield to emergency vehicles are the same ones that say it took you forever to get here when they call 911

  8. no usually were …

    why don’t all the …
why don’t all the people in the u.s get together and have 1 set of lights then that way there will not be any confused drivers everone would no its an emergency vehicle trying to get past. in the u.k. we just have bluelights on emergency vehicles.. :-)) p.s have alook at my emergency vehicle

  11. thats right bro… …
thats right bro… if these people dont wanna move over for me, or any of my other brothers in the dept, then dont call us to come save your house or your when you get into an accident… yesterday my dept. was on our way to the scene of an accident, and people wouldent even det out of the way for a dam fir truck… and then theres those idiots who are talking on their cell phones and driving, they dont pay any attention to any thing around them… it es me off

  12. i couldnt agree …
i couldnt agree more with you sir…. im sick of these people thinking were back there having fun flashing at them. no one will get the point until their house catches fire and we can get to them

  13. people are DICK …
people are DICK HEADS these days… no one can just get out of the way and let us by. Come on people, we arent back there doing it for our health!!

  14. thats rediculous. …
thats rediculous. its common sence that any flashing warning light excluding amber for road departments is an emergency light. i am a volunteer firefighter in pa and we all run blue lights and the officers run red and sirens. our community understands what those lights are for. i strongly do not believe that people are confused by blue lights, they just dont want to be inconvenienced with having to pull over. what a world we live in.

  15. When i was on …
When i was on vacation in south carolina i had seen a couple of vollunteers running with red lights…

  16. usmcforever22 on July 28th, 2009 at 9:47 pm

    yeah many …
yeah many vollunteer depts here in the upstate of sc dont run lights or sirens.

  17. Why the …
Why the wouldent you pull over for a bluelight? The volunteer dept. that i run with makes alot of medical calls, car accidents and of course fires… how do you know that we as volunteers are not responding to one of your friends in need or for that fact even a family member… People here in Pa wehre i live get that point… why cant you?

  18. I agree 100 percent …
I agree 100 percent… when i visited south carolina thats the way it was( except for ems, they ran with red and blue) but a red light vs. a blue light makes so much more sence…

  19. I wonder why people …
I wonder why people arnt pulling over. If i saw an unusual vehicle behind me with a blue light, im dam sure not going to pull over unless i know its a police vehicle. Volunteers should have red or red and white response lights to respond with so people will not be confused and think that someone is trying to falsely pull them over. I have a lot of family in PA where a lot of responders still use blue lights. It seems to confuse most a lot of people.

  20. i believe it should …
i believe it should be this:
    blue for pd
    red for fire
    green for ems
    (argue my points at will)

  21. I am on a volunteer …
I am on a volunteer dept. in a little town in Ohio, and we are allowed to use red/white with siren. they say you have to have at least one amber light facing the rear as a caution light but they are not that strict. and we are allowed 10 mph over the speed limit and can pretty much put as many lights on your car you ever wanted to. we have a bunch of back roads and “S” turns so the lights do help and people respect them where i am from.
