Why are fire fighters doing a worthless job with no meaning?
Why fight a fire in a building when the building is already ruined? (They will tear it down anyways) Why fight a forrest fire when there is no way to stop it. The fire will die down when no forrest is left to burn. (Forrest fires have been burning for thousands of years thanks to lighting) Fire fights pat themselves on their backs after the fire in the forrest is out not telling the truth that the fire went out on it’s own.
Whilst there is a logical concept to your question people will always like firefighters: As the first person’s video indicated Fire Fighters in USA are also good medics… There is a time and place for letting a fire burn out and there is a need for a fire to be contained or extinguished to reduce damage which costs livelihoods and money… I do agree with your statement. But it just isn’t politically correct!
If I was a fire fighter I would be tempted to light you on fire

When you’re trapped in the 2nd floor of a burning building and they come and get you, you may change you’re mind.
When you’re stuck under hundreds of tonnes of rubble and debris when you’re building collapsed you will change you’re mind.
When you grow up you will learn some respect for people who put their lives on the line to save others "I hope."

A very good friend of mine is a FireFighter,
Two weeks ago he and his colleagues rescued two young children and their mother from a burning block. They were in a 6th floor flat.
A few days before that they cut 2 passengers from a wrecked car. The passengers would have died if not for the speedy and professional work of all the poeple involved including the fire fighters.
If you think that has no worth or meaning then I think you may need to re asses your views of the world.

I am a trained firefighter (but not a firefighter by profession) and i can tell you that it is the most difficult job that anyone can ever do. I admire their bravery, skills and I thank them every time I pass by the firehouse. They save lives on a daily basis. How many lives did you save today?
