I’m guessing the reason they didn’t go to get the fire extinguishers would be because they already didn’t have a lot of time as it was, seeing as they were dealing with a burning vehicle, which could have exploded at any given moment. Also, fire extinguishers don’t guarentee that the fire will be put out, they only give you about 10 seconds each to try to put out the flames, and in this situation, it’s possible the fire could have re-ignited.
