How can I become a fireman in BC, Canada?
I have always dreamed of becoming a fireman. My background is that I just graduated from a top university in the Philippines with a degree in marketing, and I just acquired Permanent Resident status in BC, Canada. I am 22 years old.
Would I have to go to "fireman school", and how long would it take? What step-by-step process would I have to go through?
My husband is the union president of his fire department, and helps a lot of people find good fire colleges…
In BC, the fire college is called the "Justice Institute of British Columbia". Here is the website…http://www.jibc.bc.ca/
Edit - here’s the link to the requirements for the fire division - http://www.jibc.bc.ca/careers/dept.asp?dept=Fire+and+Safety+Division&Submit=Submit
He tells me it’s a very good fire college.
Good luck to you, and welcome to Canada.
I don’t have an answer to your question, but why don’t you stop by the nearest firehall and ask them? They would probably have some information.
