What’s the best way of going about becoming a fireman?

I have always wanted to pursue becoming a fireman, what steps should I take to get me there already having a high school diploma. Do I need to go to school first and then pursue the carrer or do the fire departments send you to school? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanx

Many fire department will give you the basic training that you need. Also most states have fire academies where you can go and become certified on your own. My advice would be to start out as a volunteer first so that you can gain experience and find out if firefighting is right for you. If you wish to get a degree in firefighting you can take a totally online degree from West Georgia Technical College or Grand Canyon University.

I would never want to be a firewoman, because I think it’s dumb that people volunteer for that, when there are already enough people working. The best part I would say, would be getting your monthly check.
