Spike Lee’s Movie Is A Great Example

How can one compete with another when all of his/her life, they have been told that they are inferior, perhaps not directly but indirectly. In the movie, Do the Right Thing, Spike Lee’s character Mookie is having a conversation with another character named Pino in which Pino calls his father’s pizza customers niggers. Mookie asks Pino who his favorite sports, music and acting stars are, revealing that Pino’s favorite stars are all black. In seeing this the thought comes to mind as to how is it possible for one person to completely demean a race of people with one word yet try and make an effort to retrieve the word when it applies to someone who is found to be likable.
