This fire is unbelievable!

(For those in a hurry, the EXPLOSION takes place about 1 minute and 40 seconds into this video.)

My buddy and I drove as close to it as we could get without crossing any police or fire department blockades.

We captured this footage of the Station Fire creeping from the Angeles National Forrest toward the La Canada Flintridge area between 11 p.m. on 8/28 and 1 a.m. on 8/29.

To get there, we traveled North from Glendale on the 2, exiting on the 210. From there, we went a few blocks east, then a couple blocks north until we hit a residential area.

Surprisingly, there was barely any smoke lingering in the air - just a steady stream of ash. It wasn’t until we headed back to Glendale on the 2 that we were bombarded with thick, choking smoke.

City of Orlando Fire Department - Grove Apartement Fire

Posted by admin on August 9th, 2009 and filed under fire stations | 8 Comments »

This was a 2 alarm fire on September 1, 2007 in station 11’s first due on Conway Rd.

Without every single piece of equipment and every single firefighter on that scene, we most certainly would have had a loss of life.

Just listen to the mother on the phone as she was trapped in her bathroom with smoke and flames coming in, and she had no way out.

The City of Orlando is laying-off 46 firefighters in order to pay for such things as the performing arts center, the citrus bowl renovation, etc. All things that need to eventually come to Orlando but, not on the backs of your police and firefighters. The truth of the matter is that we don’t need a NEW performing arts center when our nation is in the middle of a financial crisis. We need to maintain the highest level of service possible and you just can’t do that with fewer personnel and closing down stations. Folks, we need you to help us gather as much support as you can through friends, co-workers, family. HELP US REACH 5,000 SUPPORTERS. SHARE THIS PAGE WITH EVERYONE ON YOUR FRIENDS LIST AND THEN HAVE THEM DO THE SAME. Anyone can express their outrage…and believe me, they’re listening.

Fire Safety for Young Children - DSHS Washington

Posted by admin on July 23rd, 2009 and filed under fire safety | 6 Comments »

For all parents and those who care for young children. Many children run away from firefighters trying to rescue them - teach them fire safety.

http://www.dshs.wa.gov/word/ca/firesaf2rv.doc

Kids often hide when they’re faced with danger, in a fire this can be life threatening.
Ever seen a firefighter in full gear? It can be pretty intimidating for us adults… even more so for young children.

Also see the Spanish version of the same video.

Noonday Volunteer Fire Department Fallen Brothers

Posted by admin on July 23rd, 2009 and filed under volunteer fire | 25 Comments »

This video was created by Albert Belez with KETK NBC 56 for The Noonday Volunteer Fire Department after we lost two of our brothers. Captain Kevin Williams and Firefighter Austin Cheek. The Last alarm at the end of this video was added by myself and was the actual last Alarm that was played across all fire and ems channels during the memorial service. Albert has been at many of our fire scenes and has become a very familiar face to us. He did a beautiful job making this video. Kevin and Austin, “We will never forget you guys. Rest In Peace Brothers.” The footage that was at the beginning of this video has been removed by request from KETK 56.
